Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit Canadian Credit Card Finder at canadiancreditcardfinder.com (the "site"), how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is run by Andrew ("we", "us", "our") in Canada, and we aim to follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

The short version

• The site is an informational credit card comparison tool. There are no user accounts, sign-ups, or forms that ask for your name, address, or financial details.
• We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to show ads. Both use cookies or similar technologies.
• Links to card issuers go directly to the issuer's site and do not currently carry affiliate tracking.
• We do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Information you give us

We don't ask you to create an account or submit personal information to use the site. If you choose to email us, we will receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and we use it only to reply to you.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider and the third-party services described below automatically receive standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit.

Information stored in your browser

Some features, such as the card comparison list, save your selections in your own browser's local storage so they're still there when you come back. This data stays on your device; we don't receive it. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, to see aggregate information such as how many people visit, which pages are popular, and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this information. We use these reports to improve the site; we don't use them to identify individual visitors.

You can opt out of Google Analytics on all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google AdSense and advertising cookies

We use Google AdSense to display ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Affiliate links

Links to credit card issuers currently go directly to the issuer's own site and do not include affiliate or referral tracking. If we add affiliate links in the future, they may include tracking that tells the partner you came from our site, and we will disclose them on our Advertising Disclosure page. Once you leave our site, the issuer's or partner's own privacy policy applies to any information you give them, including any card application.

How we use information

Sharing your information

We don't sell or rent your personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers that help run the site (such as our hosting provider, Google Analytics, and Google AdSense) as described above, or where required by law.

Where information is stored

Our service providers, including Google, may process and store information outside Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, the information is subject to the laws of those countries and may be accessible to their courts and authorities.

Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it. Emails are kept only as long as needed to respond and keep a reasonable record.

Google API Services

Separately from this website, Andrew operates an internal YouTube tool that uses YouTube API Services to manage the operator's own YouTube channel. By using YouTube features, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Information processed through YouTube API Services is also subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

This tool is used only by the site operator. No visitor data is accessed, collected, or stored through it, and website visitors do not interact with it.

Children

The site is intended for adults researching credit products. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province.

Your rights under PIPEDA

Under PIPEDA, you can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to how we use it (subject to legal or contractual limits). Because we don't run accounts, we usually hold very little or no information that can identify you. To make a request, email us at the address below and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the small amount of information involved.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
